Seriously, all we did was sit at her house, drink some beer, watch chick flicks, and house decorating shows. AND we slept in, and went out to yard sales today. It was fantastic. If I could get one slumber party a month, life would be sweet.
i wish i was in bed right now, but I can't sleep now. I just got done with my school projects for the week, I have a couple more discussion questions to do, but I really felt like I needed a break from that for a couple minutes. Only so many interesting thins you can discuss about RAM...no really, after a while, everyone is saying the same exact things, only rearranging words.
I found some great stuff today at the yard sales. Miranda and I bought a HUGE box of frams ( I think there was at LEAST 20) for 2 bucks.. not 2 bucks each, but 2 dollars TOTAL. It was amazing. She only wanted a couple of them, and I got the rest so Hooray!! I always need frames.

One day I will get a reader on this blog damnit.
I know my life is boring, but I promise, from time to time, something exciting REALLY does happen!

Like in today's post, I'm announcing how awesome my husband is.
He got into a band today...Well, he's been in bands since I've known him, but this band is much bigger than the other ones he's been in.
they're called Willie Stradlin, they're from this area, and a lot of people in AR, OK, TX, KS know them and listen to them. They've also got a few songs on the radio, and have a couple CDs out I think...Honestly, I never knew much of the either until recently when he said he was going to audition for bass player. But I listened to them on their website, and I gotta say, they're pretty freaking good. And this is coming from a person who hasn't REALLY listened to any new music since the 90's. Hell, I even really hate music from the 90's...maybe that's why I stopped listening to the radio?
I do love my music though. Dean Martin is my dead boyfriend. He sings to me ( on my record player of course, I don't hear random famous dead guys talking to me, I swear..I just own their albums..)

Anyway, I think good things are to come with this band. They seem to have their heads on straight about the music thing, and they've got a really good fan base going. So hooray for my husband!

Anyway, I'm happy for him. That rules.

Slumber Party and School fun

I'm going to a slumber party this Friday. Now, I'm not sure, nor do I really care if it is appropriate for 20 something year old females to have a slumber party or not, I see it as a well deserved break if nothing else.
This will be only the second time since Admiral was born that I will be away from both him and Jesse for a night. Don't get me wrong, I have been away from the baby before over weekends and such, and I've also been at home while Jesse was away, but I've only ever once before been away from both of them overnight. It's not that I don't love them, and don't want to be near them, (I really do) but I am in some serious need of some down time. So Jesse's cousin and I came up with a plan for me and her to have a girl's night at her place with no kids or husbands, just us, HGTV, a bunch of ice cream and pajamas. I still have a lot of school projects to get done before then, so I've been working on them all evening while the boys are in bed. I got two done, I have to re-ink the one because I don't like some of the lines, so I'll do that tonight and scan it in tomorrow.
I gotta tell ya, doing school online is probably the single best schooling decision I've ever made. It is still just as hard as going to school here in town, lots of deadlines and huge projects, tests and all that stuff, only I get to go to a very good school for Interior Design rather than just going to UAFS for Studio Art hand having to deal with a certain professor that is....well, a dick. Plus, I get to spend more time in my craft room becuase I need to work on "school stuff" Somehow I end up getting all of it done on time!
I've been wearing my hat the last couple of days, I still haven't decided how to do the placement of that damn doily, but that will come in time I suppose.
I can't wait until Friday, it's going to be so nice to just relax and not do a damn thing (well, at least for Friday night anyway) I'll definitley miss the boys, but everyone needs some alone time every now and again. Jesse got the mother load of it last Christmas when the baby and I went to see my family for what was supposed to be a week that turned into 3 weeks because of the stupid car. He's going to need some more here soon, and he definitley deserves it. He has been working his ass off at school and working for his dad, the poor guy is so tired most nights that he can't even stand or eat dinner without dozing off.

Well, I hear the baby cryin, time to go to work!

Crafty Craftin

So I've finally slowed down enough to make some things!. Last week I made pickles, and they're now sitting in my cupboard awaiting the mystical pickle day where they will be stuffed in my mouth as fast as humanly possible.
No really, I love these pickles.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_wtjVqnMlFUc/SmU3ShaSwVI/AAAAAAAAACA/h8DAD3ODZDU/s320/DSC01446.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360751722800267602" />
I got the recipe from my great grandmother over in Germany, and it was passed down from generation to generation and honestly, they're the best pickles in the world.
I only make very small batches at a time becuase well, I have an itty bitty garden that doesn't produce a ton of cucumbers at a time.

so today I made myself a new hat, It's from McCall's pattern M5867, and I gotta say that not only is it adorable, but that pattern is so incredibly easy that it pretty much sewed itself! And of course, since I always tend to forget to buy new interfacing, I replaced the lining and interfacing by lining the hat with upholstery weight fabric. It worked great! So now I have a pretty little brown Corduroy Cloche that I've been DYING to have forever!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 268px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_wtjVqnMlFUc/SmU9zNQ4MII/AAAAAAAAACY/dU_2JxLn7bk/s320/DSC01454.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360758881397518466" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_wtjVqnMlFUc/SmU9yzQ3CcI/AAAAAAAAACQ/dma9NNgPv2E/s320/DSC01451.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360758874418121154" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_wtjVqnMlFUc/SmU9yvWUuJI/AAAAAAAAACI/xogv8YWNLLw/s320/DSC01449.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5360758873367296146" />

Yes, I know that the doily is only pinned on, but I'm having a hard time trying to decide the exact placement of it, or if I even want it on there at all.
I really do love the hat though, it makes me smile.

My plan for tomorrow is to cut out pieces for a new dress, and start sketching up some ideas for my next hat. I'm really down with the idea now of making a dress, hat, and handbag. Now if only i was brave enough to recover my shoes....

I'm thinking I'm going to do a red, white, and black waitress style dress ( circa 1940's), with a black cloche with red ribbon, and a nice little boxy purse. i'm not totally sure yet, but that's the idea for the moment.

Oh! I almost forgot, Everyone needs to bound over to Blue Cricket Design's blog! She's having a fantastic giveaway of a gazillion crafty items!!!! There's a button <-----OVER THERE that is linked to the blog, so you should totally check it out. Yea...imagine THAT hell. I've somehow made it through, and I think all the credit goes to making new stuffs, and gardening. My tomatoes have blossoms, my strawberries are bringing me new edible yummies every other day or so, and my cucumbers.....they're another story. Seems like cucumbers in this area recently have HATED everyone. My neighbors and a few other people we knew all grew them this year only to have them wilt up and die. my inside ones are doing good, but now I'm scared to move them outside. I think I might just get a large feed trough or something to grow them in instead. I won't give up though, because without cucumbers, I can't make pickles.....and I looooooove me some pickles.
I've made a few dresses here recently, and for the exception of my last one who's hem is all kinds of out of whack, they've turned out fantastic. I'll fix the hem in a few days and post it. It's adorable other than the hem of doom.
I left the school I was at, because I was admitted to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh ( I'm going online) for Interior design. Yeah, I know it's not textiles, but come on...I get to take not one, but TWO classes all about furniture. Now, that my dear friends, is a reason to get up in the morning....that, and coffee.
I'm building up my Etsy, it's been a long process seeing how the whole "not-having internet" thing has pushed back my work on it. Right now I've just got some vintage stuff on there, some old patterns and an ADORABLE lil owl thing, but hey, it's a start. I keep getting distracted from making stuffs because I spend so much time on there just clicking on other people's stuff. I think I'm obsessed.
Oooo...Craig Ferguson is on... gotta go!

Whew, it's been a while!

Hello not-so-loyal readers!
It's okay, really, I know you're busy :)

I know I have been. Also, all I can eat is mashed potatoes for another 4 days because of my oral surgery.
Ah well, I'm super floaty due to the pain killers they gave me, so not too much bothers me right now :D

I'll try to keep this updated more often, i just forgot. sorry!!!

more later, i gotta fill up my Wist.

Hello World!

Yeh, I finally decided to become one of the cool kids and start a blog.

Oh yes, I went there.

Wanna fight about it?

Continuing on,

I'm 23, I'm married ( to Jesse, a badass like myself), and I have a little boy. His name's Admiral. He's almost 6 months old.

I do a lot of crafting, which is one of the main reasons for having this bloggerooni...

I sew, draw,paint, crochet, cook, bake, and if I see something I like, I usually make it.

Oh! I'm also going back to school this fall. I start the middle of this month at the University of Arkansas, Fort Smith.

See, I tattooed for 6 years of my life. Tattooing is a great job, some of the best (and worst) people I've ever met were from working in shops. However, I think I need to go in a different direction for now. Take a step back, do some other stuff for a while. After all, it's all I've EVER done.

So, onward and upwards as they say.

Uhh....what else what else what else.....

Oh!

I'm going to school for studio art, and then I'll be going to U of A in Fayetteville for thier textiles courses.

I want to be a fabric designer.

not a fashion designer...I want to design fabric.

two reasons for this:

1. I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove fabric, and I like the idea of coming out with a line of fabric.

2. I'd go freelance at first and one of my stipulations would be a bolt of free fabric of anything I design. So, free fabric! and money for designing said fabric!

yup.

I'm in on this craftster swap for a vintage apron. It's my first swap EVER and I'm loving it!

I like making things. I like making things for other people.

I hate piping.

Eep!...Admiral's crying...gotta go!
